Another great Fall National Conference completed. The following members traveled to Birmingham, AL: Kirsten Allison, Norah Cassel, Ethan Hardesty, Brianna Krause, Kya Stevens, and Haylee Williams. We also had a guest state officer Ben Dome from Victoria travel with us as well. We stopped in Nashville and checked out Broadway. Then traveled onto Birmingham. We attended opening session, workshops, and closing session. We had two of our members place top three in their online skills demonstration event. Norah Cassel placed 2nd in Interior Design. Haylee Williams placed 1st in FCCLA Knowledge. Great job ladies! I hope to know in a few days where everyone else placed.

October 23 through October 31st was Red Ribbon Week. We started the week off with a guest speaker. She spoke about vaping and addiction. We had several themed days such as crazy hat, socks, or hair day. We had wear your favorite team day which represented supporting your friends in the decision not to do drugs. We had a pledge day for committing not to do drugs. On Friday we posed for a school picture for the Red Ribbon Week photo competition. Tuesday we ended the week with wearing Halloween costumes to "scare away" drugs. Finally, we also had a door competition. All those who participated received an ice cream sandwich. Thanks for all your support this past week!

Dear Parents and Guardians, I hope this letter finds you well. We would like to inform you of some important changes to the student shuttle bus schedule and adding 5 minutes to the elementary school day effective November 1st, 2023. 1. Elementary School to Middle/High School Shuttle: The student shuttle bus will depart from McCormick Elementary School to the Middle/High School and will now leave at 7:30 am. Please make sure your child is at the designated pick-up location on time to ensure a smooth and timely departure. 2. Middle/High School to Elementary School Shuttle: The student shuttle bus will depart from the Middle/High School to the Elementary School and will now leave at 7:50 am. We kindly request that students are punctual to avoid any delays in the morning commute. 3. Extended-Release Time: We want to inform you that the release time for students at McCormick Elementary School has been adjusted to provide students with an extra 5 minutes of instructional time. The new release time will be 3:25 pm. This change allows the district to increase the total number of minutes students attend school. Consequently, the district can now accommodate five days of inclement weather closures without having to make up missed school days. These adjustments have been implemented to ensure the safety, education, and well-being of our students while also enhancing the flexibility of the school district. We believe these changes will contribute to a more efficient and productive school year. Please be sure to communicate these new transportation and release times with your child to ensure a seamless transition to the new schedule. We greatly appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we strive to provide the best possible education for your children. If you have any questions or concerns regarding these changes, please feel free to contact our district office at 785-293-5256. Thank you for your continued support. Sincerely, Rex Boley Superintendent
