Lydia Dumler with her event board

Blue Valley FCCLA hosted the Family, Career, Community, and Leaders of America District D STAR Events and Elections.  We had 11 schools in attendance.  There were over 60 different STAR Events that were presented and judged throughout the day.  This included over 110 FCCLA members.  The events were judged by an advisor, community member, and a student judge.  We did have students from the Family and Consumer Science Education Program at Kansas State University.  We  also had judges from Highland Community College in the Early Childhood Education program. While events were judged, members ran for District Offices which were voted on by two voting delegates from each school.  Blue Valley had 11 events:  Career Investigation Level 1 Haylee Williams, Career Investigation Level 3 Kirsten Allison, Chapter in Review Portfolio Level 2 Anna Williams,  Focus on Children Level 2 Olivia Prather, Food Innovation Level 2 Lydia Dumler, Food Innovations Level 3 Ethan Hardesty and Kya Stevens, Interior Design Level 1 Allie Dumler and Maggie Finan,  Interior Design Level 3 Michaela Brown,  National Programs in Action Level 2 Norah Cassel, Repurpose and Redesign Level 1 Clay Buchanan and Gus Diederich, and Repurpose and Redesign Level 2 Brenna Gibson all competed. They did such a great job, we wish they all could attend State.  We had Beth Luhman as the District D Advisor who was in charge of STAR events.  She thanks everyone who helped set up classrooms, teachers for allowing use of their rooms, and those who helped clean up and reset for class the next day.

Blue Valley has 6 events moving on to state in April.

Congratulations to everyone who competed.  You should be so proud of yourself for stepping out of your box and speaking in front of judges you didn't know.

FCCLA and Freshman are selling Strawberries and Kansas Maid Pastries, sale ends Monday February 12. For FCCLA this will help students with their expenses for State Trip.

Thank you to Ruth Hutson, Jeanne Dowell, and Shawna Hartman for taking time out of your day to help judge as well.

GREAT DAY TO BE A RAM!
