The Blue Valley Rams seized the lead late in their 4-3 victory over the Onaga Buffaloes on Thursday, May 9th. The Rams were down 3-2 in the top of the seventh inning when Landon Schreiber homered to left field, scoring two runs.
Schreiber collected four hits in four at bats in the win. Schreiber hit a home run to left field in the seventh inning, singled in the fifth inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the fourth inning.
Lincoln Schmitz started on the mound for the Rams. The righty gave up six hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings, walking only one. Hunter Lamond led things off on the mound for the Buffaloes giving up nine hits and two runs over six innings, striking out 10 and walking none. Aeron Innes tossed two innings of zero-run ball for the Rams to secure the victory, giving up one hit, striking out three and walking none.
The Rams accumulated 10 hits in the game, led by Landon Schreiber's four hits and Koy Williams' two hits. The Rams played stellar defense throughout the game, highlighted by Rawley Sump's tremendous play in centerfield, a timely double-play by third baseman Brayden Weeks in the sixth inning, and Tennessee Hartman's diving play to rob a base hit in the bottom of the seventh.
The thrilling victory over a well-respected program marks an important milestone in Blue Valley's young program history.
