Message from the Superintendent July 7th , 2021. ***Important - Parent Feedback Requested**** Please take a couple of minutes to read the information and complete the 3 question survey at the bottom of the message. The survey will close on Monday July 12th at 4pm.
The District is gathering parent feedback on using a bus location tracking app. Parents would be able to access the information on the app and be able to locate their student(s) bus during the route as well as be able to set alarms for when they get close to their designated bus stop. (Parents would have to set it up to make it work properly.)
Depending on the services purchased the cost of the application and initial fees could be approximately $8200 up to $15,500 for the full package. We are looking at the base package of $8200 for cost effectiveness. It would include the tracking portion, hardware to be installed on the buses, and a basic bus safety and maintenance portion. There are annual fees associated with it from that point of approximately $5000 at today's cost.
Is this a service that you as a parent of a Blue Valley USD384 student would value and want? Is this service something that you would be willing to pay a $56 per person per year transportation fee for. The fee would help purchase the equipment and maintain the annual costs? The fee would only be incurred by parents that have students who are on a dedicated route. The fee would not include shuttle routes or activity/athletic transportation.

***UPDATE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT 5-3-2021 Hello Blue Valley Families, The Board and I met this morning to discuss
Riley County Health Order #22 related to revoking masks. and face coverings. It was decided to make the wearing of masks and face coverings optional for the remainder of the school year. It was also decided that temperatures do not have to be taken upon entering a building or getting on the bus. We will continue social distancing as well as using good sanitizing and washing techniques to keep the spread of any illnesses as low as possible for the remainder of the year. If you would prefer that your student(s) continue to wear a mask for personal protection, please send a note through Class Dojo to your student(s) teacher so we can have direct communication about this from you. Thank you for your support throughout this year as we have navigated the pandemic together. It is a great day to be a RAM!!

ARCHERY UPDATE!! 4-28-21. This message is for parents of Archery Club participants. We will not be having archery on Wednesday's because we don't have sponsors available. With May being such busy month our time is limited for sponsor availability. Our last session of Archery Club will be on Saturday May 22nd from 10:00am until 12:00pm in the Middle School Gym. We have a class of new sponsors going through the class on May 8th so hopefully we can have more opportunities.
On a side note, a couple weeks ago at our first meeting, we created a sign in sheet and I asked for parent emails. I have sent a couple emails out to those parents who have students participating. Some of you are not getting the messages I am sending out. If your student participates and you haven't received an email from me please send me an email at jcox@usd384.org and I will add you to the list. We would like to have Archery Club over the summer but it depends on availability. A summer schedule will be sent out on or before our last session on May 22nd. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. I know the kids are exited about this opportunity we just need to work around the adult schedules. Thank you for understanding.
Hello Blue Valley Families. Sorry for the short notice. The road construction started today causing 15-20 minute delays for the buses from Olsburg to Randolph and vice versa. We apologize for the inconvenience.
UPDATE ON KINDERGARTEN ROUNDUP MAY 4TH, 2021
Hello Blue Valley Families, I wanted to update you on the Kindergarten Round-up being held on May 4th from 5:30 - 6:30 at McCormick Elementary School. As the staff and I initially planned this event, a lot of thought went into how we could make it the safest way to have the “Round-up.'' We made the plans and sent the information out to the community. Since then, we have had some discussion with a variety of stakeholders about the event and we have decided to make some slight changes to the Kindergarten Round-up 2021.
The date of the event will be May 4th from 5:30-6:30 @ McCormick Elementary. We will have 2 portions to the event to accommodate as many people as possible: From 5:30-6:00, McCormick Elementary School will be open for an Open House to meet Mrs. Dreith. During the Open House, parents and incoming Kindergarteners are welcome to come in the building, take a tour of the classroom and building. Parents are encouraged to not bring siblings as there will be no child care available and the playground will be closed. From 6:00-6:30, Mrs. Dreith will move outside for the drive through portion of the event so parents who want to drive up can meet her and pick up their Kindergarten enrollment packets. We hope to see all incoming Kindergarten students and family on the 4th.
Message from the Superintendent 4-21-2021. Hi Ram Families, I just wanted to update you on our safety procedures as it relates to masks. As we move towards the end of this school year and look towards next year, we feel it is a good time to look at what we need to do moving forward. After some good discussion(s) and review of what we are currently doing, it was decided to make face masks optional while outside (recess, passing period, etc.) Masks are still required upon entering and while inside the school buildings, classrooms and on buses. We will still maintain appropriate social distancing in all spaces inside and out. If we participate in events outside of our district, we will still follow what ever safety procedures are in place for that event space/district. Thank you for the support you have given us so far. It's a great day to be a RAM!
MESSAGE FROM ARCHERY SPONSORS 4-20-21. I wanted to let the Middle and High School Archers know there will be no archery club on Wednesday the 21st after school. An announcement was made at the end of the day today. There is no sponsor available. We will have it on Saturday the 24th from 10am - 12pm in the Middle School Gym. It was a great turn out last Saturday. Hope to see everyone back this week. I am working on a calendar for the rest of the year with the sponsors. Once completed I will send it out to the parents of the kids participating in the program. Thank you for your patience as we get the program up and running. It is a great day to be a RAM!!
